Secure and Multifunctional Wi-Fi Networks in Hospitals and Clinics
Multifunctional Wi-Fi networks serving various user groups place high demands on the technical infrastructure. In the clinical setting, the access points and controllers used may also need to be certified according to DIN EN 60601-1-2 for use in medical environments.
One of the key requirements is the secure separation of the patient Wi-Fi network from the network used by medical staff, for example for applications such as mobile rounds. The networks are separated using VLAN- and multi-SSID-capable access points, switches, and controllers.
If you already have a professional Wi-Fi network, all you need is a HOTSPLOTS appliance through which the patient Wi-Fi traffic is routed. This is, of course, also available as a highly available, redundant cluster solution
Through the use of a Virtual Private Network (VPN), patient and visitor data traffic is not routed directly to the internet, but is instead routed via HOTSPLOTS VPN routing to an endpoint in a HOTSPLOTS data center and from there to the internet. In the event of misuse of the HOTSPLOTS hotspot, HOTSPLOTS is the first point of contact for inquiries from authorities via the VPN routing
