City Wifi for the Warbel town of Gnoien

Expansion of digital infrastructure for Gnoien

In expanding its digital infrastructure, the Warbel town of Gnoien relies on the WiFi specialist HOTSPLOTS, offering a free network in the town center. Originally initiated through the EU program WiFi4EU, the town is continuing the network independently after the end of the initial funding to permanently provide residents and guests with a reliable internet connection.

Case Study - Colibri

objective

Permanently accessible and free WiFi on Gnoien‘s main shopping street for greater digital inclusion.

challenge

A connection via street lighting that remains economically stable even after the end of EU funding.

solution

Via three central feed-in points at the town hall, the „Mecklenburger Hof“ hotel, and the „Nudeloper“ restaurant, as well as ten access points mounted on streetlights, HOTSPLOTS implemented a stably networked city WiFi system. Following the successful launch via WiFi4EU, the town now continues to operate the network independently and sustainably, keeping options open for future expansions throughout the urban area.

„Die WiFi4EU-Förderung war für uns ein wertvoller Startschuss – doch freies Internet ist heute Grundversorgung. Mit HOTSPLOTS haben wir den Übergang vom temporären Förderprojekt zum dauerhaften Stadt-Service nahtlos gemeistert und bieten Bürgern wie Gästen dauerhaft echte digitale Teilhabe.“
