Protection for hotel operators and hotel guests: filter solutions for secure Internet access
A secure online environment is also becoming increasingly important for hotels, especially with regard to Internet access, which plays an important role in every hotel visit. To ensure that children and young people have easy yet secure access to the internet, we use a free youth protection filter on our hotspots. This not only ensures the protection of children and young people, but also reduces the liability of hotels and Wi-Fi operators themselves under “interference liability” by fulfilling their responsibility to provide safe and secure online access for their guests.
HOTSPLOTS generally uses DNS (Domain Name Service)-based filter solutions. Specifically, this means that all website requests from users are first checked by the filter. If the requested page is on the filter list, it is blocked with a notification.
Since DNS filters do not affect the display of search results in search engines, Google, Bing, and others offer configurations that pre-filter the respective search results. When using the HOTSPLOTS youth protection filter, these SafeSearch configurations are already activated on the server side. When accessing YouTube content, restricted mode is used.
When logging in, every hotel guest using the guest Wi-Fi is immediately notified of the active use of the youth protection filter. This filter can be activated free of charge at all locations. The HOTSPLOTS youth protection filter is certified as Friendly WiFi, which provides a further guarantee of secure Internet access.
